Why isn’t a product available in all seasons?
This is due to natural variances in harvest and production times. Because farming depends on the weather and doesn’t always go as planned, producers might not change their harvest plan or operations at the last minute. Our marketplace is stocked depending on what is actually available from local producers. If you don’t see it, it’s probably out-of-season.You can purchase our pantry items (such as rice, beans, popcorn, and other non-perishable items), bread, honey, olive oil, and many other items throughout the year.
Why can’t I see what is available on the marketplace?
Our storefront is turned on only during customer ordering days. This is so we can confirm products listed are actually available for sale.Home Delivery Customers order between Friday at 9am and Sunday at 10pm.Wholesale Customers order between Friday at 9am and Sunday at 10pm, and/or Wednesday at 7am through Thursday at 7am.Check back on your ordering day for a marketplace of in-stock items!
Is the produce organic?
Our producers take pride in using organic, regenerative, and biodynamic farming methods to deliver the highest quality products to MendoLake Food Hub customers, and often exceed organic certification standards. However, due to the high initial and ongoing costs associated with organic certification, most producers do not choose to certify. Mendo Lake Food Hub provides Food Safety Training for all farmers working with us.
Why is the food more expensive than the grocery stores?
Food hub prices are set directly by farms and reflect living wage prices. MendoLake Food Hub adds a minimal markup to cover cost-of-living wages for our staff to process, pack, and deliver orders. Orders are picked at proper ripeness and within days of delivery, so the food is fresher, tastier with a much longer shelf life than what you might find for less at a traditional supermarket. We conduct continual market research to keep our prices competitive with our local natural foods grocers. Check our sales items for great deals!
